Answered! When i reconnected the original short lead, the clicking disappeared and the drive reappeared in windows explorer. But just to make sure that it's the DVD drive, take it off from the laptop and see if you'll still get that noise coming out from your laptop. You also have a power supply, fan, disc drive, and other things that might be making noise.
