I have exactly same issue since I have added my SSD, for soem reason when you reboot from Menu it doesn't go in correct Boot drive (my issue was also present Our Building had a Power Outage. I have written and posted problems with the Windows 8.1 operating system above. Did you use 'restart' loosely or does it, indeed, hang on a 'proper' restart? I have also tried turning off with the power unplugged and with all USB devices removed which some forums suggested but no luck. Others have ideas which did not work for me but I am most grateful your instructions solved my long lasting problem. Certainly Microsoft can do better with this newer, premium operating system. What to do now?
